This recipe uses soft tofu and ground pork to make a delicious meal. The tofu is so tender that it soaks up all the fantastic flavors of the pork. And when you add some eggs to the mix, it’s the perfect balance of flavors. Well, let’s waste no time and dive into the easy-to-follow steps of the Soft Tofu Ground Pork recipe.

Overview of Ingredients

  • Salt and pepper: We use white pepper to make the soft tofu ground pork dish taste like an Asian dish.

  • 200-gram Ground Pork: I am using a fatty cut of pork. I asked my butcher to grind pork belly into ground pork. So, if you prefer a leaner cut, feel free to use it.

  • 3 blocks approx. 160-gram Soft Tofu: We are looking for any tender and soft texture. So, soft tofu is used.

  • 3 small Eggs: Adds richness and texture to the dish when cooked.

  • 1/2 tablespoon Oyster Sauce: This adds a delicious blend of savory and sweet flavors that enhance the overall taste.

  • 1 teaspoon Soy Sauce: Adding umami flavor to our tofu and pork.

  • 2 cloves Garlic: Adds an aromatic flavor to the dish.

  • 20 g Green Onion: It has a subtle and mild taste. So, this is a very suitable aromatic to cook a Chinese dish. Like the white pepper, it makes your overall dish taste more oriental.

  • 7 tablespoon Water: To give our dish a bit of moisture, enhancing its texture.

  • 2 tablespoons Cooking oil or Pork Lard: We use cooking oil to sautéing the ingredients. It is even more flavorful and Chinese if you have pork lard to stir-fry our ingredients. Check out the article “How to make pork lard” to learn more.

You can do many things with the Soft Tofu Ground Pork with Fried Egg recipe:

  • Protein Alternatives: If you’re not a fan of pork, you can experiment with other ground meats such as chicken, turkey, beef, or lamb.

  • Aromatic Variations: Use regular onion instead of green onions.

  • Vegetable Medley: Enhance the dish’s nutritional value by including various colorful vegetables. Sautéed bell peppers, mushrooms, carrots, or snap peas can add freshness and vibrant textures to the recipe.

  • Customized Sauces: While oyster sauce and soy sauce are commonly used in Chinese cuisine, feel free to experiment with different sauces.  Make it a Western cuisine by switching the sauce to Worcestershire sauce. Try hoisin sauce, black bean sauce, or coconut aminos (my favorite).

  • Soy Sauce replacement: Bragg Liquid Aminos or Tamari.
